Their story has never been told, and it's a crazy one, which is why it could only happen in one place, The Asylum. Miami Senior High, the oldest in Miami-Dade, saw a wild tale unfold in the 1980s when Cuban-born Marcos Rodriguez, aka Shakey, led the Stingarees boys’ basketball team to glory. After Shakey, Frank Martin took over, facing skepticism but rallying his team to three state titles. The team included future NBA players Udonis Haslem and Steve Blake. Accusations of illegal recruiting hit, triggering a harsh punishment that rocked the program and affected future basketball stars.
Director Jaime Gutierrez will be in attendance to participate in a post-screening Q&A.
